Aluminum Alloy 2024 is an aluminum alloy whose main alloying element is copper. It is mainly used in applications that require a high strength-to-weight ratio and good fatigue resistance. It has weldable properties, but can only be welded by friction.

Aluminum alloy 2024 is annealed at heat treatment conditions of 399 to 427 degrees Celsius for about 2 hours and then slowly cooled in a furnace. Alternatively, aluminum alloy 2024 can also be annealed at 343 degrees Celsius for 2 hours between cold working operations and then cooled in air.
